I had a nice chat with my husband later in the evening and then I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer and wanted to sleep BUT I kept a light on and totally blocked the door with the suitcase which ended up being a smart move. In the middle of the night I was awoken by the sound of loud pounding on a door directly outside of mine. Men were trying to get into another room! Not sure what the situation was, perhaps they had been out partying and were a bit tipsy and another person locked them out. I didn’t want to go out and check it out. Unfortunately the air conditioner didn’t work too well so the room was fairly hot most of the time but it meant that it wasn’t necessary to sleep with a blanket on AND I had no cockroaches as visitors (as of yet). The air conditioner from time to time had to make itself known by making crashing sounds like it was going to totally break down or explode but for some reason it kept going.
Now to take a cold shower (yes the hot water ISN’T working) but that will cool me off a bit, then get dressed and ready and go find the breakfast room but before that, somehow locking up or hiding valuables. There is a hotel safe in the closet (they showed me the closet but there are no hangers to hang my coat so I’m not using it… Ah India….
Time to take one more chemical shower….
Now I’m at the Dehli airport waiting for boarding. It’s a nice airport having been revamped about 4 years ago for a nice sum of $ 2.5 billion (I believe) but the toilets have seen better days already. Again, I’m amazed at the security and the seriousness which they show when checking papers, etc. I guess that’s good in a way. I was prepared though to go through the security xray and body check correctly this time, which I did. The flight to Leh prepared me well for that. So now it’s just wait to board! I’m going to miss my strange experiences here but I’m also looking forward to going back to Germany, to my husband, who I miss tons, and to my life although I know already that this three weeks in India has changed me in some way. Can’t wait to see how. Below is a photo of just a little figure you can see at the Delhi Airport!
